Anonymous Addiction Help is Available   Get Started

Given the level of guilt, embarrassment, and shame that comes from having a porn addiction, it is simply amazing that so many people can find the courage to step forward and ask for help. After getting the help they need, the porn addiction sufferer is left to navigate a society where access to porn is never-ending.

As is the case with other addictions, the ability of a recovering addict to stay in recovery often depends on their ability to find good support groups or resources. Honestly, it’s a lot easier for recovering drug addicts and alcoholics to find support groups than it is for porn addicts. With that said, they are a good number of porn recovery groups out there doing good work.

Ways to Find Porn Recovery Support Groups

When you start your search for some quality porn support groups, there are two things you should keep in mind. First, you are likely to feel more comfortable seeking support from groups with which you know you have things in common. For instance, you would probably do well in a faith-based support group of people who share your same religious beliefs. In this case, your faith would be what anchors you to the group.

Second, you should do a little research and only consider porn recovery support groups that have a strong reputation for success. If you stay with the tried and true support groups, it’s far more likely you will have access to a good source of support.

Here are two other things you might want to consider during your search for porn recovery support.

Find Active Groups

As a porn addict in recovery, your main responsibility is to stay busy and away from porn. A relapse will only serve to lead you down that dark path of porn addiction yet again. If you can find porn recovery support groups that meet frequently, you can benefit in two ways.

First, you will always have someplace to go when you feel you are treading too close to the edge of viewing porn. If you can find a support group with meetings or chapters that are available every day, you will have the kind of support you might really need.

Second, you will get the opportunity to build relationships a lot faster than you would in groups that don’t meet frequently. A buddy system of individuals can quickly become a solid way to get support for an addiction issue.

No Procrastination

While your wasting time not searching for a good support group or two, your porn addiction will be doing pull-ups in an effort to stay strong. Your porn addiction will definitely be looking for a chance to strike.

There is no time like the present to start protecting the work you have done in recovery. Remember, support groups won’t be coming to your door. It’s up to you to get up and do the necessary work to find support that can help you keep your mind off porn.
